Thank you for your interest in joining the I-Network Discussion group (Dgroup). The I-Network Dgroup is a discussion forum for ICT practioners to discuss ICT for development issues. Below is the Dgroup Ettiquette. You are advised to read it thoroughly so as to understand indepth the objectives of the forum and how to use it effectively. More information about what I-Network does can be found on this website.

  1. I-Network Dgroup is a free online platform for Knowledge Sharing on ICT for development (A platform sponsored by IICD ‘International Institute for
  2. Communication and development')
  3. E-mail sent to this platform goes to over 950 registered members in the private sector, government, institutions of learning, NGOs and CBOs to mention but a few.
  4. When sending replies to this dgroup be sure to look at the Mail To: section because it is by default set to reply to the mailing list address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it in other words if you would like to send a reply to a particular person be sure to change the address in the Mail To: section
  5. To view resources just click on the link and follow instructions, you will be required to enter a password and this is by random the same password for the email address you registered, if not then dgroups should have sent you a password when your account was created.
  6. Members can post resources however the size limit is 200k
  7. The platform should not be used for advertising business or for personal conversations
  8. Regulation of misconduct etc on the dgroup is to be done by the I-Network secretariat only, any queries should also be sent to the secretariat on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it in other words members should not take it upon themselves to directly regulate others.
  9. E-mails should be written clearly (avoid abbreviations where necessary) and should not seem to attack individuals, organisations or institutes; however respect for different views is necessary.
  10. The I-Network dgroup is rated among the top 5 most active dgroups among 2,325 others from various countries internationally however its vital to balance the ‘activeness’ with the ‘quality’ of discussions.
  11. Interesting and vital information arising from discussions on the dgroup may be compiled and published on a wider forum or shared with concerned authorities. Likewise a face to face discussion could be arranged if deemed necessary.
  12. Members who go against some of these guidelines (in particular 6, 7 and 8)will be given two warnings only and if there is no change they will be scrapped off the list
