IN reporter

During the month of December 2008, I-Network held its Special General Meeting (SGM), an annual event that brings together all those individuals and organisations that have been participating in I-Network activities over the year.

The event is usually two fold, it gives, I-Network a chance to present the knowledge sharing activities that have been carried out over the year as well as get feedback from the most active participants into issues that have emerged over the year as well plans for the coming year.

The event is usually two fold, it gives, I-Network a chance to present the knowledge sharing activities that have been carried out over the year as well as get feedback from the most active participants into issues that have emerged over the year as well plans for the coming year.

At this SGM, feedback on the 4 main knowledge-sharing activities was received, which has been used to fine-tune the plans and activities for 2009. In addition to the feedback received in December, I-Network carried out a survey in February 2009.

We asked members to give more feedback on I-Network activities as part of the process of establishing a benchmark for progress.

Feedback Received

A number of members agree that I-Network should not moderate the mailing list but there should be some animation to allow the list to stay active and focused.

Membership to the mailing list is open and members are expected to adhere to the rules of the list. To join the mainlining list, one simply needs to send an email to I-Network at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Also noted was the lack of female presenters at seminars and events. I-Network was encouraged to seek female presenters for its seminars and events in the areas of ICT for development .

Members expressed a need to contribute articles and stories to the quarterly newsletter as part of increasing the content and improving ownership of the content.

This was welcomed and members are actively encouraged to submit ICT and development stories to I-Network. Stories can be submitted via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Members suggested having awards as part of the SGM to recognise and thank all those individuals who have contributed to the development and increasing of knowledge within the network.

It is not possible to list all the feedback mentioned at the meeting and within the surveys but I-Network thanks all those who participated in the survey and gave contributions at the SGM. A lot of the feedback has been incorporated into the plans for the year.
