1. Facebook Is Now Worth $190 Billion. Initiated by Pamela Kiria

Article….

Flowers

“[Facebook’s] legacy will be that they ‘connected people.’”

“These are IT innovations which have shaped the world, changed people's lives and redefined the IT industry…

1. MICROSOFT: BILL-GATES  (Software & the OS Era)

2. GOOGLE: LARRY-PAGE & SERGEY-BRIN (The Internet Era)

3. APPLE: (After Steve Jobs Returned) STEVE JOBS (The Smartphone Era)

4. FACEBOOK: MARK-ZUCKERBERG (The social media Era).”

Frowns

“I couldn’t help being diverted into thinking about this new, rather weird and too far removed from common sense method of valuation that now passes itself off as valid!”

“The American dream is built on the stock market it’s the core of their brand of capitalism that’s why they constantly need companies with stock rising abnormally to continuously give the economy ‘turbo boosts’ by making some people rich who then plug/spend the riches in the consumption economy boosting consumer spending etc.”

Conclusion/ Remarks

“I hope I live to see the day a Ugandan start-up become worth this much.”

“In other words, what’s the underlying utility/value of the one [Facebook] vs the other [Amazon]. Long term. Not just until peeps get tired of clicking ‘Like’.”

“The opportunities that Facebook presents are immense if well harnessed.”

2. UCCs Executive Director Godfrey Mutabazi makes questionable remarks. Initiated by James Wire

MPs Query Unregistered SIM Cards. New Vision on Page 7, Thursday 31st August, 2014.

Flowers

“I beg to differ. UCC has chosen the interrupt model, which is much more efficient and smarter. ‘Show us an unregistered sub and we will have him disconnected’.”

Frowns

“According to the ED of UCC, Godfrey Mutabazi, UCC had not switched off unregistered SIM cards, saying the communications body had not registered any complaints from the public on the abuse of unregistered SIM cards."”

“I do their work for them? How do I as a user know which ones [SIM cards] are not registered? ”

Conclusion/ Remarks

“So, what was the reason for the registration of Phone users in the first place?”

“That is the outcome of copying what our neighbours have done without putting it in mind if it will work out in Uganda. Am sure UCC and government to start registering SIM cards was done because they had seen our neighbouring countries finished doing it they just jumped into bandwagon.”

“UCC owes us an explanation.”
