Ban on old computers in Uganda PDF Print E-mail

Since the minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development made the annoucement banning the importation of "old" computers into the country. The I-network mailing list has debated and discussed the effects, impact and the usefulness of the ban.

Henry Lutaaya a member of the mailing list and a writer with the Sunrise newspaper as come out with an article summarising the discussions. At the end of last week it was suggested and agreed on the mailing list that this time, I-Network carry out some research into the effect and possible impact of the ban. The findings of this research shall be used in both advocacy and knowledge sharing on the issue of the use of old computers in Uganda.
