17 August 2009

This year, Uganda carried out online discussions on the I-Network mailing list on the internet governance issues that affect the country. These discussions were compiled into a report and this report was discussed in a face to face forum on 13th August 2009. The dominant issues at the forum were the management of the country code top level domain and a strategy for Uganda to transition to the use of IPv6.

It was agreed that discussion on the management of the country TLD have gone for the last 4 years with no serious action taking place. After a presentation by James Lunghabo, it was agreed that a committee is set up to look at the case presented and see how best Uganda can move forward.
