Mobile Money School Fees payments PDF Print E-mail

Early this year, the education sector was the beneficiary of a mobile application that allows parents and students access their national exam results via the mobile phone through use of text messages. This month, Zain, one of the Telecom operators launched an education service that allows parents to pay school fees via their mobile payment platform Zap thus eliminating the long queues at the bank branches for the payment of school fees just before the beginning of each new school term.

For the service to work, a school that you are sending money to via the mobile platform must be registered with the zap service. Already 350 school have registered to allow their parents make mobile school fees payments. In his article in the Daily monitor newspaper, Ladu said that even parents from neighbouring countries like Kenya and Tanzania can pay using the platform as long as they are registered with the platform.
