2. Registering for a TIN online. Initiated by Aaron Kirunda

How is it done?

“The whole thing was designed to facilitate self-service, u don't need to pay hefty sums of money for a 10 minute task.”

“You need to use an old Internet explorer. The system doesn't work with chrome, Firefox safari and opera and any other advanced browser.”

Conclusion/ Remarks

“Download the excel file and fill in. Do not forget to read through the first and last sheet for additional information after clicking the Validation icon at the end of the sheet labelled Schedule 1-4.”

To find the declaration statement, on the portal, select new form and look for the download or print terms and conditions.

3. Online Payment. Initiated by Alex Muwonge

How to acquire a debit card among other means of payment.

“You can use a wide range of Ugandan banks: Standard Chartered, Ecobank and Crane Bank are the three of I’ve used.”

One can also acquire a debit card from Stanbic Bank and Equity Bank.

“You can get a prepaid VISA debit card from UBA, its issued instantly, has very good exchange rates, SMS alerts and internet banking.”

“UBA is great but they customer service is wanting. They seem to only have one branch in town with counters, at Jinja road; they always have long lines and empty counters.”

“The cards offered are not necessarily accepted in all stores on the Internet.”

“Why can’t I just instantly wire money from my Mobile money account to my Debit Card account???”

“Most sites will accept UBA debit cards, save for a few that want CREDIT cards specifically.””

Conclusion/ Remarks

“You might also like to open a PayPal account to make such payments easier because the cards offered are not necessarily accepted in all stores on the Internet.”
