Makerere University's Computing and IT society (MUCITS) has elected a new president.
Reports from the University indicate that Mr. Michael Patrick Okumu-Ringa, a second year student of Computer Science, emerged popular and registered a landslide victory when he beat four other contenders in a tight presidential election bid on April 20th 2006.

While thanking his supporters in a speech he made soon after the victory, Okumu-Ringa pledged to transform the Computing and Information Technology Society into a vibrant and dynamic organisation with substantial national and global impact.
Okumu-Ringa happens to be the son of Hon. Patrick A. Okumu-Ringa, the Minister of State for Public Service.
He attended secondary school at St. MaryÂ’s College Kisubi and Greenhill Academy, before joining Makerere University.
