2. Ugandan Service Websites are doing Badly Initiated By John Babirukamu

Appalled at how government websites are lagging behind especially Ministry of ICT and Tourism at Alexa.com. Are we getting value for money?

Improve website rating by :

Fresh content, keywords, interconnectivity with other popular websites, fast loading.

Emails sent to stake holders in this regard have all been ignored to date.

Sometimes there is antiquated information at the website.

Is the official tourism attraction site rated favourably?

People visit a website because it has information they need, or if they have heard of it.

Alexa is a good indicator but sorely based on visitors and so, easily manipulated. Get different website statistics to give a much better and precise indicator of quality and performance.

Site visits could be caused by other factors like the URA ratings picked after introduction of e-tax.

The current statistics on the UCC website are for the half year of 2011/2012.

Statistics for this year are not yet published, as they are being verified.

Visit UCC and pick the half year industry report ending Dec 2012, It has more information covering the communication sector as a whole.

Where   can one find high   quality maps of  Kampala  or  showing  population distribution roads,  points of interest...?

Patrick, at Earth Consult(U) Ltd provides parish population data for the whole country but Kampala in particular is up to date with roads. They also have income distribution level maps for Kampala for manufacturing companies to target their sales.

MTN does not listen to pleas to unsubscribe from SMS messages. Ready to sue on behalf of all Ugandans.

Got MTN SIM card and threw it in the trash.

Airtel and UTL should also stop unsolicited phone calls and caller tunes respectively.

Lodge a complaint with UCC and then take steps if there is no response. They (UCC) were to have started a call centre to receive these complaints and act upon them.

Issue eventually sorted but how to protect users that are not on I-Network mail list? Forming e-consumer protection body?
