Health Node of I-Network formed PDF Print E-mail
A Health Node of I-Network Uganda has been formed.
This happened during a one-day sensitization seminar for the top and senior management of the Ministry of Health held on 3rd May 2006 at Hotel Africana.

Participants at the seminar also selected an interim committee to spearhead the start up activities of the Node, including drafting a work plan for 2006. Members of the interim committee are:
1. Dr Deogratius Iga Matovu - Mulago Hospital and Makerere Medical School
2. Dr Grace Nambatya Kyeyune
3. Mr Charles Isabirye - HRD Department, Ministry of Health
4. Dr Rose Byanyima
5. Prof George Kirya - Commissioner in the Health Service Commission

The Health Node will provide a platform for information and knowledge sharing for those interested in the use of ICT in the health sector, especially health workers themselves. It is expected that the Node will conduct its activities through the use of dgroups, seminars, and through the I-Network Newsletter as well as the web site.
The sensitization seminar at which the Health node was formed was the first of a series of such seminars that will be conducted at all the regional referral hospitals in Uganda, 12 of them in total. The seminars are being organised by the National Telehealth/Telemedicine Steering Committee (NTSC) of the Ministry of Health, headed by Dr Catherine Omaswa. The seminars programme is getting support from IICD and CORDAID of the Netherlands.
