ICT Journalism Awards are back (call for entries) PDF Print E-mail
It is that time of the year again when you, the journalist, are rewarded for your work in covering ICTs in Uganda. The Media Node of I-Network Uganda announces this year’s Uganda ICT Journalism Awards.
The awards are intended to stimulate interest among the media in insightful coverage and creation awareness on ICT issues in Uganda. ICT is not about just phones and computers, but all information and communication technologies including radio and television among others.
The Media Node of I-Network now invites you to put in your stories. Let the nation know what is happening in the neighborhood.

Uganda ICT Journalism Awards
The awards, each worth US$ 200 or the equivalent in ICT gadgets, cover three areas:
1.         Print/Web
2.         Broadcasting (TV/Radio)
3.         Photo
Awards objectives
Submitted works should be stories or features relating to the question of whether or how ICTs contribute to development. The story should go beyond merely reporting an event to analyzing its significance in the light of the wider development issues and the concept of the information society.
The competition is open to both full-time and freelance journalists interested in publishing news, opinions, commentaries and analyses on ICT issues in the media. Articles to be submitted for this competition must either be published in any newspaper, magazine, recognized media website or broadcast in the electronic media. Content on blogs is not eligible.
Period of competition
The competition will cover articles published/broadcast between June, 2006 and October 2006.
Mode of submission

The submissions can be made either by directly sending the article or providing the link (URL) to the newspaper/ magazine/ where it has been published.
Application forms for the awards can either be downloaded from the Media Node discussion/mailing list available at www.dgroups.org/groups/medianode or use the copies that have been sent with this letter.
Competition judges
A highly distinguished panel of judges comprising experts in the media and ICT researchers and policy analysts will review all submissions and select the winning entries.
